George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals was created in 2017 after the merging of two of Brisbane’s most trusted and experienced funeral homes – George Hartnett Funerals and Metropolitan Funerals. Together they bring more than 145 years of funeral experience with both providers having been in business since the 1940s.
At George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals our difference is our people.
We are proud to boast a team of skilled and professional people who are passionate about the role they play in guiding a family through the death of a loved one.
We believe it takes a particular type of person to provide care under the George Hartnett Metropolitan name. Our team specialise in listening to the family’s needs and values, understanding their emotions, and getting to know the person who is now gone.
Our funeral directors are an enduring source of knowledge for the community, providing information to individuals who need guidance now or for decisions they are making about the future.
We provide education and information to care facilities including nursing homes, hospitals and community support groups. And each branch in our network has developed unique and key relationships with businesses in their local community and their relevant councils, chambers of commerce and not-for-profit groups.
Our funeral directors believe in giving back to the local communities in which they work and live. We are supporters of your local social group, sporting club, school and church.
We also hold special memorial services and an annual International Women’s Day event to champion women and their achievements as well as raise funds for organisations such as Small Steps 4 Hannah, Brave Hearts and Blue Hope.
Our funeral directors are highly skilled in bringing everything together in a very short timeframe, while giving you the time to plan exactly the funeral you want.
We won't rush you into making decisions, instead we will listen, ask questions, and deliver a funeral service that is in line with your requests and budget.
Our client families are at the heart of everything we do. We understand there is no one size fits all when it comes to funerals, and there are many ways to create an authentic, meaningful service that is relevant and true to the life that was lived.
Having our own chapels and facilities, ensures you can control all aspects of the service. Plus we offer state-of-the-art live streaming services at all our locations.
We also offer facilities to share refreshments after the service and spend time reflecting and sharing stories. When not being used by families for funerals, we offer these facilities for community meetings, supporting not-for-profit organisations, local schools, TAFEs and universities.
Over the years, our funeral directors have assisted with a variety of cultural and religious services, from Chinese Buddhist to Christian, Sikh, Asian, Russian and Serbian Orthodox, among others. We also have experience in burials at sea, unique venues and unconventional requests.
A funeral service is a personal and emotional journey, and we are here to help you create the dignified service you or your loved are looking for. George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals is available any time you need us.
